MAD Camps for 2008 have changed! In preparation for the opening of the 139th season of Camp Meeting, our Music and Drama Camps have changed names and the ages for those who are invited to be a part of MAD Camp 2008. JUNIOR MUSIC & DRAMA Camp #102 Campers entering 6th grade thru 8th grade in September 2008 are invited to participate in this camp. *Campers who attended Junior Arts #102 last summer and are entering 5th Grade in September 2008, or anyone entering 5th Grade and has had several theatre experiences are asked to call the Artistic Director before they register. SENIOR MUSIC & DRAMA Camp #202 Campers entering Grades 9 thru 12 in September 2008 are invited to participate in this camp. Those registering for Senior MAD are encouraged to participate in auditions. MUSIC & DRAMA GOLD Camp #501 This NEW Camp is for 2008 graduating seniors and for the serious theatre person who continues to have a desire to improve their stage movement, character development and production skills. Campers who are interested in learning directing skills are invited to apply. Campers above the age of 23 are asked to call the Artistic Director to discuss what contributions they can bring to the 2008 MAD production. A WORD TO PARENTS: Before you register your child for Junior or Senior MAD Camp, please discuss with your child their love of singing and acting. While anyone is welcomed to come to a MAD camp, regardless of the degree of their talent, I have found that children do not have a successful, fun camping experience if the camper does not enjoy singing and performing on stage. If this is the case, you are encouraged to register your child for another age appropriate camp. The Artistic Director would be happy to speak with you regarding any questions you might have. Be sure to register early so you can receive your musical score, audition materials and information on props and costumes.
AUDITIONS for the musical will be held on Saturday, July 12, 2008 in the Berry Room in the Pedrick Guest House at Malaga Camp beginning at 12:00Noon. Anyone who is registering for Camps #102, #202 or #502 is invited to audition for a part in the musical. While this is the first step to a good experience in theatre, campers are not required to audition. All campers participate in the production regardless if they do or do not audition on July 12th. Camp for ALL campers will begin on Sunday, July 27th with registration from 4:00 – 5:00pm and concludes on Saturday, August 2nd with sign out beginning after the completion (about 9:45pm). of production responsibilities. All campers are expected to participate in after-show responsibilities. In addition to the preparation of a musical, camper will have experiences in contemporary worship, in developing or improving a devotional life, swimming, crafts, and activities unique to MAD camp, such as the annual square dance, and a theater trip. In order for all campers to have a less stressful camping experience, campers who win a role and normally spend their free time during the week in rehearsals and line memorization will be invited to MAD+. This MAD+ experience will begin at 7:30pm on Wednesday, July 23rd and conclude on Saturday, July 26th after breakfast. All actors coming to MAD+ are required to have their lines memorized by July 23rd Blocking of musical numbers and line rehearsals will comprise a majority of the schedule. Therefore any camper who wins a speaking/singing role will be required to attend MAD+. There will be no exceptions. For additional information regarding MAD or MAD+ please contact the Artistic Director by telephone at the camp office at 856-691-3154 Voice Mail #3. or by email ivyavenue@comcast.net. Join us this summer for MUSIC & DRAMA CAMP 2008. This is one camping experience you will not want to miss!!! |
